Learn what minerals and nutrients are in your soil and can be harnessed to grow nutrient dense. We start with a soil fertility test which includes a standard soil sample and a soil paste test, which also tests your irrigation water. Next, we read your land through an in-field soil health assessment to identify compacted areas, rhizosphere health, presence and diversity of soil life, soil aggregate stability and the capacity of your soil to infiltrate water and facilitate nutrient cycling.

As part of your plan development, we dive into the past history of your land and develop an 18 month timeline of priority actions for building soil, opening up new growing areas, setting up closed-loop farm systems, and a nutrient management and maintenance schedule. Your plan is a valuable resource that will help you actualize the vision for your land and prioritize your energy and resources. Plans are developed after an initial consultation with you and include two follow-up consultation sessions.

We offer packages of trees, shrubs, and ground covers which can be planted as a succession using agroforestry principles and design concepts. Each package includes food, culinary and medicinal herbs, and other functional plants. Our plants are grown for the climate and conditions of Oahu’s North Shore, with many being native or canoe plants. The diversity of plants included in our agroforestry packages have a diversity of root systems which encourage deep cycling from nutrient reserves in your soil, relationships with mycorrhizal fungi, and nitrogen and phosphorus-fixing soil microbes and plants. Most of our agroforestry packages are grown out through custom orders. We also sell our packages as part of our quarterly workshops.

Learn with experienced growers every step of the way. We host quarterly workshops that will take you through the process from prepping your land, to setting up closed-loop systems, designing soil health practices, crop rotations, nutrient schedules and monitoring. We also offer consultations sessions in between the annual workshop series for those who want to work with us more closely.
