Our “Growers Network” is a farmer-to-farmer learning network. We support the network through a series of workshops designed to help new land owners or stewards walk through all of the steps for setting up a regenerative farm. Our workshops teach basic skillsets and tools for designing your farm, regenerating your land and preparing it for planting, testing and amending the soil, developing crop nutrient regimes, setting up on-farm soil building and plant propagation stations, maintaining and monitoring your crops for optimal health, harvesting and selling your crops to local distributors and markets. The Workshop Series includes six half-day workshops, which will provide you with a concrete farm plan, soil and leaf tissue lab tests, in-field soil health assessment, grafted tree and flat of perennial ground cover plants, propagation materials from our farm, customized soil amendments and foliar spray mixes, Brix nutrient monitoring meter, worms and a simple design for your personal farm vermicast system, parts list for your irrigation system and nursery, and carbon program for your farm. The price for these workshops each workshop is $85 for those who purchase the full series. The price to attend select workshops a la carte is $150 per workshop. Please read the workshop descriptions below to learn more.
Workshop 1 -Growers Network Series: Design Your Own Food Forest
In this workshop we’ll teach permaculture design concepts, including site considerations, planting on contour, plant selection, planning for succession, and spacing. This workshop is ideal for farmers interested in planting an agroforestry zone on their land or anyone with enough space to plant at least one tree in their backyard.
Nutrition Farming Workshop: Connecting Soil & Human Health
Connecting Soil & Human Health. In this workshop you’ll learn about essential macro and trace minerals required for optimal health and biological functioning in humans and plants and how to build soil health by promoting growing nutrient-dense crops.
Workshop 2 - Growers Network: Prepping Your Farm Using Regenerative Practices.
In this workshop you’ll learn about regenerative principles and practices, with a focus on guiding principles for building soil and crop health by improving your rhizosphere. You’ll also learn simple techniques for conducting an in-field soil health assessment for your farm, how to submit a soil sample to a lab to test for soil fertility (nutrients imbalances in the soil).
Workshop 3 - Growers Network Series: Irrigation Design, Installation & Maitenance
Irrigation Design! Learn how to setup a simple micro-irrigation irrigation system. The same concepts will apply if your setting up your backyard garden or larger-scale farm. We’ll go over how to setup a main, pressure regulator, timer and working with driptape and polytubing.
Farm Art Project Workshop- Building a Farm Gate
Learn how to build with natural wood instead of lumber to build a farm gate or landscape feature. In this workshop you’ll learn how to select the best types of trees (including how to re-purpose invasive trees after removing them), how to cut and cure the wood, how to finish wood and use it in a simple design to build something for your own farm.
Workshop Series 4 - Growers Network Series: Setting up a nutrient monitoring & maintenance program.
Setting up a nutrient monitoring and maintenance program. This workshop will dive deep into the steps and tools used to monitor crop health. We will introduce you to proven method to rapidly build soil health by ‘jump-starting’ the health of your plants through a simple 3 month foliar spray and soil building nutrient regime.
Workshop 5 of Growers Network Series: Regenerative & Profitable Farm Systems
Setting-up Regenerative & Profitable Growing Systems on Your Land. In this workshop we provide demonstrations to help you set-up your agroforestry nursery, create your own on-farm fertilizers and soil amendments, develop a cover & cash crop rotation plan, and sell your produce.
Farm Art Project Workshop- Garden Arches & Vines
Learn how to build a garden arch using natural wood. During this workshop we’ll talk about what type of wood to use, how to harvest the wood and demonstrate how to prepare and build the arch together. We’ll also discuss the best varieties of shrubs and vines to use and how to maintain your garden arch.
